First Colavita / Zipp TT Race Update (Casstown, OH) - Results

Robbie and I had a good first race of the season start in Casstown, OH last Sunday competing in the Colavita / Zipp TT series race.  It was a pretty desent day weather wise, in the low to mid-50's with some wind coming out of the north.  The race route was a rectangular shaped loop that was just short of 10 miles .  Robbie's start time put him on course with a light mist of rain going on but eventually dried up during the day.  Overall, we did pretty well for the first race (see results links). Robbie raced in the Junior class, while I raced in the 50-59 year old age bracket class as well as the Category 1 class.

We are now gearing up for the Fisk Knob TT in Cedar Springs, Mi. in two and a half weeks,  it will be good to race in Michigan.

First Time Trial Race of 2012 takes place on Sunday

We are well into the preperation work for the upcoming time trial race in Casstown, Ohio on Sunday.  This is the first race of the year for Robbie and I, and we are looking forward to the season getting under way.  Training has been going well all winter, as well as some of the bike projects were have been working on.

We are getting a lot of requests for the cable cover that fits the Trek Speed Concept as well as crankset covers that can be used on any bike.  Below are just a couple of pictures as a couple of cable covers right out of the molds.  They look pretty spidery at first, but once cleaned and trimmed they start looking like the final product.  Check them out.

More Crank and Cable Covers in Progress

We are continuing to get orders for crank and cable covers for the Trek Speed Concept, so these are getting very popular.  Actually, the crank covers are designed to fit on any Sram crankset, from the Rival, to the Force, to the Red (most popular).  If you would like to just order a blank cover to fit to your own crank just let me know, I have a few that do not have any mounting or crankarm holes in them, so you can do a DIY project on your own without needing to form carbon fiber.

Training for the race season is in full swing now.  Robbie has been on the road almost everyday and the trainer and Bowflex is getting a lot of use right now as well.

Great Weekend for Riding

Had a great time riding with Team MOS/W yesterday at the team training camp in Brown county, the weather was perfect for riding and the scenery on the ride was just really something.  The ride included a lot of climbing (at least for a time trial specialist) but it was great training.  The Garmin computer put the ride at 65 miles and one of the climbs at 28 percent incline with many more in the 10-17 percent.  The ride was a shock to the system so early in the year, but it was just want we needed to start the season off.  Thank you to the team to make sure I did not get left to far behind on the climbs.

Got the Trek Speed Concept TT bike out on the road for the first time this year for about 45 minutes just to loosen up my legs after the hard riding day yesterday.  The ride was also used to shake the bike down to make sure all the new carbon bits/pieces worked out as planned.  Overall, I am very pleased, the bike ran great with no issues.

Robbie also got his Scott Plasma TT bike ready for the season today, he cleaned and adjusted the saddle height, (being that he has grown a few inches since last fall)  He will be getting out on the road this week to start the hard training for the season.

First Crank Covers Out of the Mold

Update on Covers:  Below is a picture of the first two crank covers out of the molds, they turned out pretty well, we just need to tweak a couple more things in the process.  Another mold will be produced in the next couple of weeks bring the total to three.  Flat sheet of carbon is used for making the small chain ring cover, molds in progress to make more of these as well.

On another note.  Meeting up with the Men of Steel Racing team this weekend for our spring training camp. It will be great riding with the team and getting outside for one of the first times of the year.
